The 2012-2013 NBA Season gets underway tonight with some pretty big match-ups, but much of the conversation has been centered around the newly assembled Los Angeles Lakers.
Lets face it, the Miami Heat took the league by storm a few years ago when Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade and Lebron James joined forces and reintroduced the idea of “Power Teams” to the NBA.
Many NBA Owners were against the idea of having 3 Star players on the same team as it eliminated a lot of the smaller market teams having the possibility to compete for these supposed “bigger” names. Reality was they were right, many players took to New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Boston and Dallas to try to compete with the Miami Heat.
The only team to succeed in dethroning the Miami Heat were the Dallas Mavericks which seemingly fell apart a year later.
So that brings us to the 2012-2013 NBA Season and what teams have a chance against the New NBA Power Teams.
The current NBA Power Teams are the Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers, Boston Celtics and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Some would argue that the Dallas Mavericks deserve a mention, but many of their players are injured and questionable for this season.
The Teams that are “under the radar” that can possibly come up in the ranking are the New Orlean Hornets (Anthony Davis appears to be playing like an All-Star and the newly acquired Ryan Anderson can add firepower in the 4 spot) along with the Denver Nuggets who appear to have a lot of talent in the backcourt.
Many are banking on the Miami Heat or the Los Angeles Lakers, but do not be surprised if teams like the Nuggets, Hornets or maybe even the Jazz make some noise this season.
